Frequently asked questions
Answers to what customers ask us most often.

Working with us
Do you build custom equipment?
Yes. In-house development is one of our pillars — from adapting a standard supply to a completely new device for research, defence or rail. We build single units as well as series; cathodic protection rectifiers even in batches of thousands.
What should an enquiry include?
A description of the task is enough: supply voltage and required output, environment (indoor/outdoor), interfaces, quantity and deadline. If you have a specification or drawing, mention it and our sales engineer will ask for it.
Do you deliver abroad?
Yes. MORIS control systems run in Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Lithuania, Belarus and Ukraine; our cathodic protection rectifiers go to Europe and Australia; and we have built switchboards and containers for lines in China and the USA.
Where are you based and where do you manufacture?
Our head office, R&D and workshops are in Nová Dubnica (M. Gorkého 820/27, about 3,500 m²). Switchboards, containers and larger assemblies are built in our hall in Ilava (Sihoť 1, 1,200 m²). We are open on working days 6:30 – 15:00.
Which certificates and partnerships do you hold?
Our quality management system is certified to ISO 9001 by Bureau Veritas. We are a Siemens Solution Partner for drives and automation, an authorised service partner for Siemens drives and, since 2004, an authorised Siemens training centre. Since 2016 we have been part of the Czech industrial group DEL.
Power electronics
Which battery chargers do you make?
SN-series chargers for stationary, traction and starter batteries (lead-acid, NiCd, NiMH) at 24, 48, 60, 110 and 220 V DC — from compact units to 19" rack systems, with programmable charging curves, temperature compensation and remote monitoring. For battery capacity tests we supply ZAKS dischargers.
Do you make cathodic protection rectifiers?
Yes, the SZK series in batches of thousands: switch-mode, efficiency above 90 % and power factor ≥ 0.96, output up to 120 A, constant potential, voltage or current modes, GPS-synchronised ON/OFF interruption and remote monitoring via the NES Control Server web application. Indoor, outdoor and Ex versions.
Do you supply rectifiers for electroplating?
Yes. Our SZ-series IGBT switch-mode supplies replace thyristor rectifiers — up to 92 % efficiency, ripple below 1 %, 1 – 100 % control and up to 10,000 A. We deliver them with installation, set-up and service; a new SiC generation arrives in 2026.
Can you design a supply that is not in the catalogue?
Yes — for example supplies for single-crystal growth with very low ripple, sources for plasma drilling and milling, supercapacitor recovery stations or DC UPS systems for substations. Send us the voltage, current and environment and we will prepare a solution.
Automation and Siemens
Do you sell Siemens components?
Yes — across the industrial portfolio: controllers, I/O modules, HMI panels, motors, gearboxes, frequency converters, switching and protection devices and process instrumentation.
Which PLC systems do you work with?
We program SIEMENS, ROCKWELL and BECKHOFF controllers, including HMI, visualisation and remote access — for new lines as well as the modernisation of older control systems.
Do you build custom switchboards and containers?
Yes. We design switchboards and container solutions in ePLAN and Solid Edge, build them in our Ilava hall, commission and test them in-house, then install and start them up at the customer’s site — at home and abroad.
Railway
What is the MORIS control system?
MORIS is the main control system for diesel-electric and electric vehicles developed by NES. More than 500 units are in service in Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Lithuania, Belarus and Ukraine; a version with a 32-bit CPU is also available.
Do you supply test equipment for depots and test rooms?
Yes — HV supplies for rolling-stock test rooms (for example a containerised 3 kV DC supply for ČMŽO in Přerov), testers for DC high-speed breakers and protective devices, and automated battery capacity-test equipment.
Service and repairs
Do you repair drives you did not supply?
As an authorised SIEMENS service partner we repair MICROMASTER, MASTERDRIVES, SIMOREG and SINAMICS converters, as well as servo motors and HMI panels. For other equipment we assess the repair options after diagnostics.
How does 24/7 contract service work?
The service contract sets guaranteed response times of our engineers for your equipment, so a breakdown never waits for a free slot and downtime stays to a minimum.
How do I report a fault?
Fill in the enquiry form, choose “Service and repairs” and tick that it is a breakdown — the request goes straight to the service department. You can also write to servis@nes.sk or call +421 42 440 12 02.
Siemens training
Which Siemens courses do you offer?
TIA Portal for S7-1500 (basic SERV1 and advanced PROG, 5 days each), STEP 7 Basic for S7-1200, WinCC, STEP 7 for S7-300/400, PROFIBUS and drive courses for SINAMICS S120 and G120, MICROMASTER, MASTERDRIVES and SIMOREG. Combined topics are tailored on request.
Where do the Siemens courses take place?
In our classroom in Nová Dubnica with PCs and training rigs, or at your site (from four participants). Participants receive study materials and a certificate of completion.
How do I book and where are the dates?
Write to us via the form (area “Siemens training”, including the number of participants) or directly to our training coordinator at skolenia@nes.sk. She will e-mail you the current dates and prices.
Documents and website
Where do I find catalogues, manuals and certificates?
In the Documents section — catalogues and data sheets are sorted by product, and you can type a product type or name into the box above the list. If a document is missing, we will send it to you.
